What is an epoxy resin?
Epoxy resins are a type of thermosetting polymers derived from monomers with at minimum two epoxide groups. They offer an excellent adhesion and chemical resistance, and other special characteristics. Because of these properties they are utilized in a wide range of industrial and consumer products.
“Uncured” epoxy resins refer to the polymer with several epoxy groups that are created by an enzymatic process. “Cured” epoxy resins (also called epoxies) are the result of an enzymatic reaction that “cross-linked” polymer chains.
